Cayin N8 shook the Personal Audio industry back in 2018, and we are going to do it again, with N8ii.
So why is N8ii so special?
1. Fully-Balanced Dual Timbre: Our Vacuum Tube/Solid State Dual Timber feature is a major success. We solved the microphonic problem and facilitate the choice of vacuum tube and solid-state timbre in a portable DAP. N8 only have one Nutube installed and we can only offer vacuum tube feature to single-ended headphone output. When we start our N8ii project, we are determined to further enhance this feature. We’ll install two Nutube in N8ii and upgrade the Dual Timber feature to support balanced output
2. Dual Output Mode: This is an unique feature of N8. We alter the operation voltage of headphone amplification to increase output power and sound signature of the circuit. User can choose between standard P mode and High Output P+ mode through the pull-down menu. We'll keep this feature in N8ii and better still, we upgraded the headphone amplification circuit to fully discrete design and the P+ mode in N8ii will offer more dramatic improvement.
3. Dual DAC Architecture
The N8ii is designed around a pair of current mode DAC chipset that has never been used by portable DAP. We have spent a lot of resources to learn, experiment and tune the supporting system of this new DAC chipset. We are confident that the final deliverable will offer a brand new experience that can rival any TOTL DAC implementation in DAP.
We don't have a predefined deadline. When Cayin works on a new flagship, we are more concerned about the engineering and performance considerations. Cayin has established an impeccable performance history on DAP product development. All our DAPs are innovative, well-informed, and well-received. We have displayed class-leading engineering from each and every product and we are confident that the N8ii will continue the Cayin legend.
Stay tuned for more N8ii information in near future.

Réception hier d'un cayin N8 à la suite d'un échange. Excellentes impressions que ce soit en sortie 3.5 tube ou 3.5 transistor. Moins technique que le sp2000 mais quand même additif.
End of the game : Cayin n8ii + Empire ears Odyssey + EA Chiron 8W+ Sedna crystal
Devise "Je me demande si je ne fais pas une connerie en le vendant."

Cayin is preparing their long-awaited N8ii player, which was 80% complete, but due to a fire at the Japanese AKM factory, they were left without the DAC chips, the heart of the player.
As a result, the development had to start under the new ROHM BD34301EKV chip.
Expected start of sales: February-March 2022.
Key Features of Cayin N8ii
1. Dual DAC architecture
N8ii is based on a pair of ROHM BD34301EKV DAC chipsets with 32-bit current mode. The DAC chipset was announced back in February 2021 - the perfect time to save our AKM based project. The AKM fire was one of the worst in our industry and Cayin almost immediately started looking for a new DAC solution. At the time of writing, this DAC chipset has not yet been used in any portable DAP, so the N8ii may well be the first modern DAP with a ROHM DAC chipset. We are aware of the LUXMAN SACD player project, but we are working within the same time frame, our engineers have spent a lot of resources studying, experimenting and tweaking the support system for this new DAC chipset from scratch. We are really pleased with the result and we look forward to sharing our ROHM developments with our users.
2. Fully Balanced Dual Tone
Our Vacuum Tube/Solid State dual tone feature rocked the world back in May 2018. We've solved the problem of microphony with innovative methods and made it easy for the first time to select vacuum tube and solid state tones in a portable DAP. Unfortunately, we can only fit one Nutube 6P1 into our N8, so the vacuum tube is only available for the Single-end headphone output. We have received many comments and requests to make the vacuum tube tone available for balanced output as well, and we have repeatedly explained that the Nutube 6P1 is a double triode tube in its design, it can be used as a left and right stereo amplification channel, we cannot achieve true balanced amplification with only one Nutube 6P1.
Naturally, when we start our N8ii project, one of the priority requirements is to upgrade the Dual Timber function to support balanced output. Implementing Dual Nutube in the N8ii is even more complex than in the C9 because we have to take care of the 5-inch OLED screen at the same time, so we'll have to innovate in the placement of circuitry and components to fit everything into a compact, portable solution.
3. Fully discrete dual output mode
This is a unique feature only available on the N8. We change the operating voltage of the headphone gain to increase output power, processing capability, and circuit sonic signature, and allow users to select between Standard P Mode and High Output P+ Mode via a drop-down menu. We've kept this feature in the N8ii and, even better, we've upgraded the headphone amplification circuitry to a fully discrete design. As a result, the N8ii's P+ mode will differ more dramatically from the standard P mode.

Hello
